Discover the Baltic Sea

In the northeast of Germany, the last ice age and the forces of nature have formed a unique landscape, which is ideal for a particularly relaxing holiday.

Holiday and fishing villages, large and small historic towns and everywhere a changing landscape with lots of water, white sandy beaches, meadows and forest, the national park „Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft“ or the glacial valley of the Recknitz invite you to explore the region extensively.

Beach of Zingst

On the long promontory of the Zingst, the land of the Darß peninsula, torn off by the sea, is washed up again. The result is snow-white fine sand that is rarely found anywhere in the Baltic Sea region. Lying here in the sand and watching the children build castles is pure relaxation.

Harbor of Zingst

Around the small port of Zingst there are various restaurants, a barge from which smoked fish is sold, ice cream parlors and a lot of activity in summer. Here is the starting point for Bodden tours, boat trips for bird watching and a terminal for the ferry to Barth.

West Beach

The natural “primeval forest” on the Darß is surrounded on three sides by the Baltic Sea. Here on its stormy west coast, the Baltic Sea has been taking the trees back for centuries and leaving their skeletons as bizarre sculptures on the beach. A wonderful playground for children and castle builders.

„Darßer Ort“

At the northernmost point of the Darß forest is a lighthouse made of red bricks, which still shows the way for shipping. There is a café for tired hikers before they start their way back and pass the natural harbor „Darßer Ort“. Those who don’t want to hike can also opt for the small electric train that takes the direct route to Prerow.

Meiningen Bridge

The Meiningen Bridge was built in 1908 as a railway bridge for the Darß Railway and connects the Zingst peninsula with the mainland near Bresewitz. Today the rails end shortly after our train station, just before the bridge. The building is now closed and initially replaced by a makeshift bridge.

In summer, the bridge has to be turned every evening and every morning to let the Bodden ships pass. This is always a big attraction for young and old.

Pier of Zingst

A pier has adorned the popular holiday resort of Zingst since 1993. It extends 270 meters into the Baltic Sea and has a walk-in diving bell as a special attraction at its end. Numerous sculptures adorn the wooden walkway. These driftwood artworks, decorated with the typical stones collected on the Baltic Sea, blend harmoniously into the endless beach landscape.
